BET+ Brings Fans into Martin the Reunion

MARTIN was one of the most iconic sitcoms of the ’90s, and in 2022, the cast reunited for a special streaming on BET+. To celebrate, ROSE teamed up with BET+ to create an interactive experience at House of BET. Fans could step into the world of MARTIN with friends by re-creating the show’s legendary intro. After striking a pose or busting a move in front of a green screen, guests received a custom video straight to their phones — complete with their names in the signature MARTIN font, color-changing backgrounds, and, of course, the unforgettable theme song.

Step by Step

The first step in creating an amazing intro? A star-studded cast. Users could star solo or build a cast of up to 4 friends. Each cast member would enter their name and step up to the green screen during their call time.

Fans could bust a move or strike a pose in front of the camera, then review their clip before entering their phone number to receive their final intro sequence.

How it Works

To bring this experience to life, the team developed an iOS app that captured footage directly from the device, keyed out the green screen in real time, split the footage into segments, layered custom text, graphics, and music, and rendered the final video — all before delivering it straight to users' phones.

I contributed to this development by supporting the user experience and user interface design of the application. I also provided the development team with art direction for the final video output, guiding the layering of text, graphics, footage splicing, and footage orientation. The final result was crafted to be a nostalgic nod to MARTIN.

House of BET

This experience was held in person at House of BET, a BET Awards event. The activation was hosted alongside a MARTIN set replica, to celebrate and promote the reunion. With 555 individual users, a total of 228 Intro Sequences were created and sent out to fans.
